Andrew Tobert MBACP
Relational Integrative Psychotherapist
You show up for everyone, but not yourself.
Perhaps you say yes when you want to say no. Perhaps you take on too much at work or you feel invisible in your relationship, even your life.
I work with people who have had to sand down their edges or make themselves smaller. We work on getting to know the full person. We explore what it is like to stop hiding.
Perhaps you are struggling with:
People pleasing. You're the easy one, the flexible one. But ask what you want, and you draw a blank
Stress and burnout. You can't say no, you take responsibility for everything, and now your back is breaking.
Relationships. You take care of everyone. But when you're the one who's sad or angry, it isn't always met with kindness.
Addictions. You’re functioning, you can keep your boss happy. But you cannot be by yourself.
Trauma. Something happened that shouldn't have happened. You hid it away, but perhaps a part of you hid with it.
Climate anxiety. The planet is warming, but how can you live your life knowing what’s to come?
LGBT+ experience. You learned to hide, because you had to. Even from yourself. But perhaps you got too good at it.
How I work
I'm a relational integrative psychotherapist. Relational means I believe we are hurt, and healed, in relationship. What happens between you and me can shape what happens in the rest of your life. And integrative just means I don't force you into one framework. We work however we need to.
We meet weekly, for 50 minutes, in person at the centre or online. There's no agenda. Each week, we follow whatever feels most alive.
About me
Before I trained as a therapist, I was an activist. Activism taught me, in my body, what it was to take up space. My clients often know its opposite: feeling invisible, making themselves smaller, performing something they're not. Together, we work on being seen. You have edges, and I'd like to help you find them.
